Whitstable Town Football Club is delighted to confirm that the project to replace the grass surface at the Belmont with a top quality artificial 3G pitch has now been completed. The new playing surface has been successfully tested, achieving the FIFA Quality Pro standard, and handed over to the club ready for football to restart at the ground. We would like to thank Velocity Sports for working closely with us throughout the planning and installation phases of the project to deliver, within the planned timescale, a fantastic new facility for the football club and local community.
In addition to the new pitch, there are new floodlights, fencing, pathways and landscaping around the ground, although work continues on several other improvements as we look forward to welcoming our teams, supporters and visitors back to the Belmont. The new facility can now be used as a home for training and matches by our senior, youth and academy teams, as the club continues to grow. There are also opportunities for more community use, without the limitations that the previous grass pitch forced upon us.
It was great to see our first team squad enjoying their first training session at the ground, under the new lights, this evening and everyone is looking forward to the first home league fixture against Welling Town on Saturday 3rd September.
Look out for more news and photos from the project, but better still, come and visit us at the ground where your support will be welcome, as always.
