MEET THE PEOPLE FROM WHITSTABLE TOWN FC

Mark Cooke22 May 2019 - 09:25

WHITSTABLE TOWN FC SOCIAL SECRETARY

Hi, my name is Gary Carter my roles within Whitstable Town Football Club are the under 11s (next season) Assistant Manager / Coach and club Social Secretary.

I have lived in Whitstable all my life; I played football for local clubs until I retired through injury at age 30.

I have a daughter Abbie who is 14 and plays who is a keen footballer and a son Archie a promising future midfielder who plays for the clubs under 11’s currently in the EKYL.

My aim as social secretary is to raise the club profile in and around the surrounding area and the town.

I will be organising events for Whitstable Town, our players and parents of our players, including fans of the club. Currently I am organising some fun days at The Belmont which will take place through the summer months - it’s a knockout style day it just one of my ideas. (Some of our older parents will remember it’s a knockout). I’ll be looking for organisations and local community, players and parents to donate raffle prizes for our up and coming event days.

I’d like to arrange champion’s league style football tournaments for all local clubs to enter this will be open to all youth football age groups.

The big plan for me will be to organise an open air concert for next summer at The Belmont, live music, hopefully showcasing local bands and talent (if anyone has any favourite local bands please let me know, this will obviously be a great way to socialise and to get to know everyone who helps at the club, to have a good time and show off their dance moves!

Already in the pipe line is a manager and coaches’ game, Whitstable Town F.C. vs Tankerton F.C. I’m just waiting for a date when we can use the pitch.

I can see big things happening at Whitstable Town FC over the next few years and I for one definitely want to be part of the success.

My son loves playing for club and going to the Belmont to watch First Team games so we must be doing something right, this is something we as a club want to encourage. We are a community club and we want local people to support the club and feel it’s their club and be proud the town has a thriving and exciting football team.

We have a new First Team manager, Lloyd Blackman and he is really enthused about the youth section, there is a pathway for all our youth players to reach the First Team if they work hard and have the ability. I believe in a few years from now we will need to extend seating and develop our clubhouse to accommodate our ever-growing supporters.

We are all working hard behind the scenes to get this right. If you have any ideas for social events you would like us to consider, please feel free to contact the club or speak to your child’s team manager.
