News from the tournament played on Sunday 3rd November

The Whitstable Pan Disability team play in the Kent Disability Football League, where the clubs meet once a month to play all of the other teams in their division in a festival-like event. The team played five games in the latest tournament at the Abbey School in Faversham on Sunday and had a very successful time. Here is a summary of the action.

We opened the tournament playing Swanscombe Tigers, winning 2-0 with great football played between Michael Jarrett and Tom Martin, with Tom scoring both goals.

In the second game, we played Anchorians Equal Teams and it was a very tight game with Callum Bell pulling off some great saves that kept us in the game and we ended up winning 1-0.

The third game of the tournament was against top of the league Gravesham Borough Youth, a team that we had never beaten in the last two tournaments and what a game it was as well, with both teams going for it. Our defence was on top form with Liam Wickham making some crucial tackles which led to our goal winning the game 1-0.

In the fourth game, we played Charlton Athletic and their goalkeeper made some quality saves to keep his team in the game. We had shots coming from Michael Jarrett, Tom Martin and Liam Sanderson, whose shot just went over the bar - what a goal that would have been - and we ended up winning the game 1-0.

The fifth and final game of the tournament was played against Kent Lions and we started very well, playing some nice football and then a ball was played over the top to Craven Wickham who volleyed the ball first time and put it into the bottom corner for a goal of the season contender. We won this game 1-0 to make it 5 out of 5 wins.

The team played some amazing football and they got the job done by winning all of their games, which put them top of the league, the Championship One Division.

Man of the tournament went to Liam Wickham for his outstanding defensive work in the whole tournament; he was unreal and no player could get past him. Well done, Liam!
