Former Whitstable Town manager Scott Porter has accepted the position of first team manager at Hawkinge Town, who are currently bottom of the Andreas Carter Kent County League Premier Division. He will be joined by his brother Dan and they will start their new adventure next week. Scott stood down as Whitstable manager at the end of last season, taking on the role of Director of Football, and he has since continued to support the club and new manager Lloyd Blackman. The opportunity to take on a new challenge with his local club at a level that will enable him to achieve a balance between work, family and day to day involvement with football is something he feels is perfect for him at this time. Scott worked extremely hard alongside the committee to turn the club around after a difficult time and was successful with his main goal of getting Whitstable promoted back to the Isthmian League, whilst also winning two cup finals. He and his family will always be welcome at the Belmont.
Scott gave us the following message:
“Just a massive thank you to everyone at Whitstable Town FC for their massive support since I took over. It’s a club which will always be a big part of my life. I achieved what I set out to do and I wish Blacky and the club all the best for the future. It's a great club in great hands. Hawkinge Town FC is my local club and I live in the village. It suits my lifestyle, regarding my job and my son Ronnie’s football and it’s a great project that I'm looking forward to getting into. I love a challenge.
Up the oysters!”
