Whitstable drawn at home to Virginia Water

Following Monday’s FA Vase draw, Whitstable will next play Virginia Water at home on Saturday 19th October in the First Round Proper.

Here are the teams’ results in the FA Vase qualifying rounds.
First:
Corinthian-Casuals 1 Whitstable Town 4
Second:
Whitstable Town 1 Hollands & Blair 0
Virginia Water 1 Winslow United 0

Virginia Water play in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North, which is at Step 5, like the Southern Counties East Premier Division. Their home ground is Arbour Park, the home of Slough Town FC. They are currently in eighth place with thirteen points from eight matches. They progressed through two rounds of the FA Cup, including a 2-1 win against Ascot United of the Isthmian League South Central Division, scoring a late winner in a game that saw five red cards after the 90th minute. Their run ended with a 4-0 defeat at Horsham.

Whitstable have reached this stage for the first time since the 2016-17 season, although of course they did not compete in the FA Vase while in the Isthmian League. They reached the Third Round in that season, beating FC Elmstead, Lancing (in an incredible game that ended 6-5), Saltdean and Epsom & Ewell before losing 2-0 to Chichester City. The best ever FA Vase run for Whitstable was achieved in 1996-97, when they reached the last 16 before losing 1-0 at North Ferriby United in the Fifth Round.
