Walking football for women has launched at Whitstable Town Football Club. This form of football is played at a walking pace, with players not allowed to run or jog with or without the ball. It is a non-contact sport, meaning there is no tackling from behind and no heading of the ball. If you can walk, you can participate in the game.
Previous football experience is not required to join the sessions. The sessions are open to women over 30, with women over 50 being very welcome. It is hoped that teams for under-50s and over-50s will be formed to participate in the new Kent FA East Kent League, which will begin in the autumn. However, participation in the league is not mandatory.
Whitstable Town Football Club is supporting the sessions, which will be held on their 3G pitch at The Belmont Stadium on Monday evenings from 8-9 pm. The sessions are completely free. The necessary equipment includes clothes that enable you to walk freely, such as jogging bottoms, a T-shirt, and a pair of football boots. If you don't own boots, don’t worry. We have a large selection available in our boot room.
