After our 2-0 victory at The Belmont Stadium on Tuesday night, Marcel has now won all three games against Hollands & Blair since his appointment. This Saturday, we have a break from the league as the focus shifts to the Kent Senior Trophy, where we will host Bearsted in the second round of the competition.
In the first round, we defeated Tunbridge Wells 4-2 at The Belmont Stadium. Josh Oliver and Josh Williams scored the goals that secured the victory for us. Josh Oliver opened the scoring for us in the third minute, and the visitors equalized only three minutes later. However, within two minutes of the visitors' equaliser, Josh Williams struck the ball well to beat the keeper, putting us ahead 2-1 in the eighth minute. Josh Oliver scored the next goal of the game from the spot three minutes before half time. At half time, we were leading 3-1 and took a short break to regroup ahead of the second half. Only four minutes into the second half, Josh Oliver completed his hat-trick, earning himself the Man of the Match award and putting us 4-1 ahead in front of a crowd of 412. The visitors managed to score a second goal in the 68th minute but were unable to break through our defence after that. We saw out the game 4-2 and progressed to the next round.
Our last game against Bearsted was in October at The Belmont Stadium, where we won 2-1. A crowd of 682 watched the exciting match unfold. Within three minutes, Josh Oliver scored the first goal, putting the Oystermen 1-0 up. Both sides had some great chances, building up the tension of who would score the next goal. However, it took until the second half for the tension to break as Harvey Smith scored. It was a superbly worked opportunity, with Eri Akintimehin, George Sheminant, Jack Palmby and Harvey Smith passing the ball with ease between one another, going on the attack, and finishing with Harvey's goal to give us a 2-0 lead. The only other goal came in the 70th minute when Joel Wakefield scored for Bearsted, but they were unable to find another to level the game. The final whistle was blown with us winning 2-1.
